Yandles woodworking show, 8th-9th September 2017

I visited the Yandles Woodworking Show in Martock Somerset. Lots of trade and craft stands and demonstrations. Lots of wood and tools. I spoke to Matt Cremona and Ben Crowe. It was fun!

Come see me, Matt and Ben at Makers Central at the NEC in Birmingham on 5th and 6th May 2018. http://www.makerscentral.co.uk

  1. Hey great video and shout out for Makers Central Susan. Looking forward to catching up at the show . All the best Nick 👍🏽

  2. I see they still have that stick of non plantation rosewood – I had three of the other boards from the log… wonder why it hasn't sold. It's been there for 4 years now 🙂

  3. Thanks for the tour, there did not seem a lot of folks there compared to when I was there last April. All that wood going to waste!!

  4. I see you have an electronic gauge it should convert between imperial and metric. Maybe the manufacturer has metric guide bushings.

  5. I was taught not to let a bit bottom out, as the collet needs room to compress against the shaft. Holding the bit up about a mm or 2 gives the collet room to compress. I have had bits come out because of doing that.

  6. Hi Susan …I love the stuff your doing …I remember seeing you at pmt ..they had a Taylor guitar conference to Taylor owners ..Ive just started making a electric guitar be nice to chat hopefully..guess we are both local if you have a email address..many thanks n keep up the good work Tony

  7. Sue, have you ever considered making any speaker cabinets? Would be interesting to see you make some different ones and compare the sound.

  8. Im glad you met Matt Cremona. I love watching his milling videos. I just can imagine what a guitar maker could do with some of those amazing slabs.

  9. Made it down there for a couple of hours Saturday afternoon – all a bit quiet by then. Haven't been to the show for a couple of years, but visit the mill now and then to buy timber and machinery (got a bargain Record lathe a couple of months ago). At the show I picked up a sturdy 1/2" bowl gouge from Ashley Isles and a very well priced used 5 1/2 Stanley plane from Ben Crowe.
