  1. Not only a beautiful finished product but some of the very best instruction on youtube. To often the basis of the box are omitted, but you started the project explaining the details. You also did the explanation by showing all of the mistakes that were made so any one trying any project would know that even the best craftsman makes mistakes and the true test is in correcting those mistakes. Just a very good job from start to finish.

  2. Hi Rob, I love your videos! Question about the wood hinge, how did you drill the hinge pin hole centered before you designed the kit?

  3. Awesome teaching always. What’s the best way to determine the size of the dowel for the hinge for any given project? Currently making a box with 1/2 inch front and back and 5/8 inch sides. Thanks for any insight.

  4. All that effort, how much could you really sell that box for? Where do you find people who appreciate that level of craftsmanship? I love it, it just deflates me knowing "no one" will appreciate it.

  5. Bravo πŸ‘πŸΎ. Love your work. Made my first dowel hinge box recently, then seeing this video after and I'm like 😳… not even close. It's okay though, I feel encouraged to keep at it!

  6. Hi Rob, Great and fancy work! Please let me know from where can I buy the kit you're using to make a hole in the center of a dowel? Please advise. Thank you!

  7. I did enjoy it with your help i will learn to do wooden hinges have a ways to go but feeling good thanks to you. Julien Lamarche

  8. I watched this video 5 months ago and watched it again. It's a thrill to see that hinge when you open the box for the first time. I noticed that when you routed the groove that you did not get any burn marks. What is the secret to no burn marks? Maybe you don't have a problem with burn marks but if you do get any, do you just glue to the burn mark? If you sand out then the dowel won't fit snug. Do you wax between the pieces of the dowel? on the end grain of the dowel around the metal pins?

  9. Love your work and demonstrations, especially with planes. If I could just make one suggestion, your voice fades when you are not close to the camera.

  10. Very good idea πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ’—πŸ’—πŸ’—πŸ’—πŸ’—πŸ’—

  11. I’m not even able to work with wood because I have no space, but it’s so therapeutic to watch this video.
