Hope everyone is having an amazing time! I couldn’t be more excited to introduce the newest co-worker within the workshop! The Ridgid 6 1/8″ Jointer. This jointer is a working beast! I am not about selling this jointer in any manner, however I would recommend this jointer over the bench top model jointers. If budget is tight and the expensive jointers are way out of reach, consider looking into this jointer. I am positive that you will be satisfied, if not more. It took me months to decide on the right jointer after many reviews. When I finally decided, Home Depot was out of stock with this jointer. I waited a few weeks until I saw “Ridgid Jointer in stock”. I did not want to miss the opportunity again and jumped right in line to order it! I don’t have all the “in’s and out’s” of this jointer yet, but if there are any recommendations or questions, please feel free to comment! It may help out anyone in the wood working community! Cheers! -Alex Quiroz

  1. Thanks for the video! Did you turn the dial thing before inserting the blade guard into the hole? That may be why you’re not seeing it go back into place.

  2. Great video. I just bought this and will be putting it together myself – glad to see you do it yourself. Thanks for sharing this tutorial.

  3. Mine sucks I have to return it dammed heavy, the motor runs opposite and it doesn’t trimm the wood cause the cutter runs to the outfeed direction…😩

  4. You installed the guard wrong. Next time read the damn instructions. Remove it, turn the spring on the bottom counter clockwise 1 turn, then slide the guard back in the hole.

  5. Thx for the vid Alex, I made one mistake when putting mine together and have to undo some work to fix it, I put the motor mount bolts on the bottom and can't get at them to tension the pulley, so now i had to take a side off and maybe the top to fix it, all in all I been spending about 30min a day putting it together it's not to difficult but at my age it's pretty heavy to lug

  6. Just got my jointer. About to put it together. Outstanding assembly video!! Good idea to use paste wax rather than WD40. Thanks for your help!!!

  7. Nice video.
Am having trouble installing the v-belt. I watched the section here where you install the v-belt (looks easy) and read it in the manual, but I think I must be missing something. It seems too strong to stretch by hand. How do you get the v-belt wrapped around both wheels? Do you need to move a component?

  8. Can I ask how hard I’d it to get the 3 blades aligned even. I have an old Powermatic Jointer and keeping the 3 blades even is a difficult task.

  9. What can I say? Just a great video, my kind of music and a great presentation. You have made me spend money and enjoy spending it. I got one.

  10. In my shop I’m doing a 2 1/2 dust collection but I bought the adapters from amazon along with the hose to go from the cyclone to the duct work I’m running it all of a old sears craftsman 5hp shop vac and using a 55 gallon barrel to get all the dust I got to hook up more outlets in the shop next Monday my part for my grizzly bench top planer will show up so I can have dust collection for it I’m also in a small shop

  11. Just ordered mine today ! Great video for referencing the assembly and video you did. I'm pretty sure i can lift and install on my own without extra help after watching you assemble. I will convert to mine to 220volt.

  12. I had issues with the dust chute. It doesn't attach securely to the frame. I thought I did something wrong, but after watching you, there's only one way to attach it, and it has to be done after you mount the top. This video helped me out a lot… Thanks Alex! PS. I love my jointer.

  13. Which jointer do you all use? If it's a benchtop jointer, how does it compare to this WEN model? Do you think the cast iron base on the WEN is worth the extra cost and effort?

  14. Thanks for the review, this helped me make my final decision and will be going with the JT6561, very next model up. Cheers!

  15. I'm thinking of buying this model of jointer, I have seen a lot of bench jointer models for my workshop, but this one seems really good for a decent prize

  16. dont know why the downvotes. its not like you're sponsored or work for Wen.. as far as figuring it out on cam (and saving me from finding the manual i definitely threw out with the box) this was what we needed. thanks for taking the time to make it! also you AND the other video i found both put the fence on and had to take it off, haha

  17. Do you ever find that when jointing a face there is a slant on that face? So at one end it is thicker than the other end (width wise) or is that just a problem on my end? Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks! I just bought this a couple months ago and had the issue stated above on all my boards 🙈

  18. Lol. It’s a spring loaded handle dude! U tighten it then pull handle out and just go in reverse and tighten it again. Yes it takes a few times to do but it’s spring loaded for a reason. Lol!! I’m sure you’ll figure it out by time I get done typing this comment!! Lol.

  19. The handles with the springs are intended to be rotatable without disassembling. You just pull out on the handle and rotate then when you release the handle, it locks back into place.

  20. When the blades are at top dead center, they should be level with the outfeed table.a The left hand table is not adjustable, per se, so spend some time to make sure the outfeed and the blades are level to start.

  21. For posterity, that handle is spring loaded for a reason. All you have to do is pull out on the handle and it disengages and you can move the handle without turning the screw. So, tighten as far as you can, pull out, reposition the handle, and tighten some more.
Also, use mineral spirits to remove the factory grease. 🙂

  22. Great review. I own several Wen products and I'm really happy with them so far. One tip for you, if you don't mind; Always joint the wide side of your board first. That way you have a reference surface to press to the fence to get your 90° corner. When you joint the narrow side first, you don't have enough reference surface against the fence to keep it flat when jointing the wide side. Not busting your chops. I just like ti give tips when I can.

  23. Just bought this unit and so far really am enjoying it….. Thanks for the info it was helpful on the set up. So far it seems like a good purchase but wow it is heavy… What are your thoughts on the jointer as a whole???? Thanks for your efforts!

  24. Not related to the jointer… but on that coupling for dust collection. I keep a supply of those around. They are invaluable!
