  2. Great advice … over the years mixing Japanese and Western tools has led to some conflict, but mostly just in my own mind. It would be nice that we could all grow up with a person like Toshio Odate to start us off correctly but that rarely seems to be the case. Jpn saws saved my bacon until I learned what a "sharp" western saw really was all about.

  4. sharpening on sandpaper with a granite flat plate can round over your bevel, I use both stones and sandpaper
