Hey everyone! Sorry its been so long! I have been wrapping up some larger projects and cranking through 2018.

In this episode, I am building my long awaited MOAT that is 36″ wide x 36″ tall x 84″ long. This bench is inspired by Ron Paulk’s benches along with Jay Bates and his approach to the base.

I would like to thank Kreg Tool for sponsoring this video and providing some awesome tools and products that I can implement into this bench. Having a full perimeter clamping area is going to be fantastic in the shop!

There will be plans up the www.BuildSomething.com website for this build. Please keep in mind that plywood and material thicknesses vary and there are some dimensions on this project that can be “off” due to that. The plywood I used was around 18mm thick this threw off a couple of things early on.

Please comment and ask questions below and I will be happy to answer wherever I can!

Thank you for all the support and stay tuned for some more upcoming videos!

  1. Hey everyone! Thank you very much for all of the feedback and comments on this build! Since building it, I have put it through the paces in the shop and it is doing amazingly well! A lot of you have asked about my dust port on my cordless circular saw. It is a customized Ridgid Brushless circular saw that I cut the guard on and used epoxy to mount an old Shop Vac nozzle into. I am putting together content for a YouTube video explaining why and how I did it as well as how it is holding up. Thanks again and stay tuned for more!

  2. Hi there, enjoyed watching this and a work top is something I need tomake for myself. Do you think this kreg system is as good as the bench dog system (you know the 20mm holes all spaced out in a grid) ?

  3. Hi Casey, thank you very much for this build. After a year I’ve finally built mine. A quick question: what are those two black brackets on either side of the tapered end of the bench? I made your miter saw table too, your signature is all over my shop! Thanks again

  4. Hey Casey this is a great build. About three months ago I modified my dad's old mobile work bench to add features like shelves on one side, drawers on the other, clamps on one end and a French clear system on the other end. The only thing I have left is the top. Currently I have a machinists precision stone sitting on top that I covered with a simple plywood cover. Eventually I am moving that stone off of there and replacing the top. My plan was to do a glue up of 2"X4", but watching your build, I think I'd rather go with a melamine. How has the melamine held up? I wish this bench were the height of my table saw in order to make it an out feed table. Now that I've already built the understructure, it's not possible to modify it without starting completely over. Great build. Thanks for sharing.

  5. I wish I had the skill to build this. Great video. I have to ask, why does a video like this get thumbs down? Is it just plain jealousy or some small minded people or group that just goes around giving thumbs down?
